On August 8, 2011 City Council adopted City of Prince George Flood Plain Regulation Bylaw No. 8285, 2011 which replaces City of Prince George Flood Plain Regulation Bylaw No. 7855, 2007.
On July 5, 2010 City Council gave first and second reading to City of Prince George Flood Plain Regulation Bylaw No. 8285, 2010 which if adopted will replace City of Prince George Flood Plain Regulation Bylaw No. 7855, 2007. Updates to this bylaw and the flood plain mapping were recommended in the Flood Risk Evaluation and Flood Control Solutions Report prepared by Northwest Hydraulic Consultants.
The Flood Plain Regulation Bylaw regulates all new development within the flood plain. It consists of setbacks and flood construction level regulations. New flood plain mapping has been produced by Northwest Hydraulic Consultants to replace 1997 maps.
On June 13, 2011 Council rescinded second reading Flood Plain Regulation Bylaw No. 8285, 2010 and gave second reading to an amended Bylaw. The bylaw was amended to take out the basement restriction area. A public hearing to consider the bylaw was held on June 27, 2011, and Council gave it third reading on that date. The bylaw was subsequently adopted by Council on August 8, 2011.
