  Select Committee on Homelessness and Affordable Housing

Previously known as the Beyond Homelessness Committee, the Select Committee on Homelessness and Affordable Housing has been re-structured to facilitate the provision of interagency advocacy in support of a Housing First approach to ending homelessness and providing affordable housing.

The City of Prince George has adopted a Housing First Policy as part of the Social Development Strategy.  Housing First is an approach to ending homelessness that centers on providing those that are homeless with housing quickly and then providing services as needed. What differentiates a Housing First approach from traditional emergency shelter or transitional housing approaches is that it is “housing-based”, with an immediate and primary focus on helping individuals and families quickly access and sustain permanent housing.

Membership will include senior level representation from the following partner organizations:

  • City of Prince George (3 members of Council);
  • Prince George Native Friendship Centre (1);
