A municipal library is to be managed by a library board. The members of the library board and their successors in office are a corporation with the powers and duties given in the Library Act. Library Board members are appointees of City Council and operate under provincial legislation as detailed on the Public Library Services website.
Call for Volunteers
The Prince George Public Library Board is currently accepting applications to fill two (2) term positions ending
December 31, 2016. Please review the advertisement and details on the application process below. Applications will be accepted until September 5, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.

Applicants are asked not to submit applications until both of the following steps are complete.
Complete a Criminal Record Review
All applicants are required to undergo an RCMP Criminal Record Check as part of the Library Board appointment
process. To request a Criminal Record Check, applicants may:
Victoria Street RCMP Detachment; or
b) Pick up a form at the Victoria Street RCMP Detachment or Legislative Services Department, 5th Floor, City Hall. The
completed form can be dropped off at the Victoria Street RCMP Detachment; or
c) Apply for a Criminal Record Check through the Ministry of Justice website using the provided Access Code. Once your
application is complete, the Criminal Record Check will be emailed directly to the Legislative Services Department.
2. Complete the Volunteer Application Form
Pursuant to Section 5 (2) (a) of the Library Act, all applicants to the Prince George Public Library Board must be residents or
electors of the City of Prince George.
The Act also states that all appointments are for terms of two (2) years, and that no member may serve on the Library Board
for more than 8 consecutive years.
In addition to completing a Library Board Application Form, all applicants should attach additional relevant
materials (resume, curriculum vitae, and supporting material) to the application form, and a covering letter outlining your
reasons for applying and potential contributions to the Prince George Public Library Board of Trustees.
Note: Supporting documentation (i.e. resume/CV and cover letter) must be submitted with all applications regardless of
whether you are a new applicant, returning applicant or existing board or council committee member.
