The City of Prince George has been actively involved with the Communities in Bloom program since 2002, initially under the Civic Pride Committee. We participated in the BC competition (50,000 – 100,000 population category) in 2002, 2003 and won provincials in 2004. This allowed us to compete at the National level in 2005 where we proudly received the national Turf & Ground Cover Award for our beautiful Rotary Soccer Fields. In 2006 we again competed in the national category against 8 other communities across Canada. We were honored to win this prestigious award, receiving the highest bloom rating of 5 blooms and a special mention for our Community Spirit. The City of Prince George, a finalist in the International challenge – large category of the 2008 Edition of Communities in Bloom, received a 5 Bloom rating and a special mention for Quality Turf on Sport and Park Facilities.
