Prince George John Rustad, MLA Prince George-Omineca, the City of Prince George, the Operation Remembrance
Prince George Committee and the Royal Canadian Legion has identified 18 veterans were buried in the Municipal Cemetery in unmarked graves. Working with Veteran's Affairs Last Post Fund, the Operation Remembrance Committee has received and installed military grave markers to commemorate these veterans. A ceremony to unveil the new markers and show our respect for our WWI and WWII Veterans was held June 14, 2008 at the City of Prince George Cemetery.
Our ceremony was led by John Rustad, MLA Prince George-Omineca. We were pleased to have Linda Sauer, Veterans Affairs Canada; The Honourable Shirley Bond, MLA Prince George-Mount Robson; Glen Scott, Acting Mayor of the City of Prince George; Terry Burgess, Regional District of Fraser Fort George join us and bring greetings. We were fortunate to have members of the Canadian Armed Forces, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43, the Rocky Mountain Rangers Cadets, The RCMP, Prince George Fire Department, BC Ambulance Service, Knights of Columbus and family members of the veterans attend to honour the veterans.
