The City of Prince George recognises residents who work hard and donate their time to improve their local communities through several awards. Residents may nominate community members whose efforts are making a difference for some of the following citations.
Access Award of Merit
The highest honour granted by the City of Prince George, the Access Award of Merit is presented to individuals, groups, or businesses that have made a significant contribution toward a barrier-free community that is both universally accessible and inclusive.

Heritage Places Awards

The City also maintains a register for heritage properties.

Certificate of Project Recognition
Each year the Advisory Committee on Development Design reviews development permit projects on which it has received a proposal and presentation. The Committee considers which project(s) to recommend for the annual Certificate in Project Recognition. Quality of submission, presentation by the developer in terms of aesthetics, accessibility, climate-sensitive design, landscaping and crime prevention through environmental design are taken into consideration.

Volunteer Recognition
The City recognises individuals who donate time, energy, and ideas to improve the community during regular Celebrating Success Council Meetings and at the Annual Civic Appreciation event.
Citizens are encouraged to nominate exceptional volunteers throughout the year. There are no specific categories for volunteer recognition, but nominees should have contributed at least five years to the community to be eligible.
Celebrating Success
Mayor and Council recognises exceptional volunteers during the Celebrating Success portion of regular Council Meetings throughout the year. Volunteer recognition will be archived in public records.
Annual Civic Appreciation Event
The Annual Civic Appreciation Event celebrates volunteers and their contributions to the community through volunteerism.
Youth of the Year Award
The Youth of the Year award recognises outstanding contributions to the community by a 13 to 18-year-old young person. Nominations must come from the community and the nominee's school.
