The Advisory Committee on Accessibility advises and assists Council, staff, and other committees with formulating and promoting strategies and actions to create and maintain a barrier-free community.
The Committee consists of nine citizens appointed by Council and one ex-officio Council member appointee. The membership is a cross-representation of individuals with disabilities and service providers familiar with accessibility issues.

Access Award of Merit
The Access Award of Merit is presented annually to an individual, group, or business that has made a significant contribution towards a barrier-free community. This is the City's highest honour recognising contributions that lead to the inclusivity and improved quality of life for all residents.
