FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
At approximately 6:30pm on 15 September,2023, Prince George Fire Rescue responded to a report of a fire at the Prince George Landfill located at 6595 Foothills Boulevard.
- A total of 13 firefighters responded from three halls.
- When crews arrived, they found a fire burning on the active face of the dump approximately 300’ by 300’ in size.
- Crews attacked the wind driven fire with handlines.
- Contract equipment crews arrived and used on scene equipment to cover the area with thick dirt as fire crews extinguished the area.
- Fire damage was estimated at $20,000 and the cause is unknown at this time.
- There were no injuries to any of the fire personnel.
