FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Prince George, BC – Washrooms at a select number of City park amenities will close to the public for the winter at the end of the month. A number of parks will also close to vehicle access at the end of the month and be re-opened in the Spring.
The City of Prince George parks department are getting ready for the snowy season with the following closures and changes taking place:
Park Gate closures to vehicles:
- Carrie Jane Gray Park – Closed for the year on the evening of Monday, October 30, 2023, reopening Spring 2024.
- Connaught Hill Park - Closed for the year on the evening of Monday, October 30, 2023, reopening Spring 2024.
- Nechako Riverside Park – Closed once snow has fallen and stayed on the ground. The parking lot will not be plowed, and the park will not be open to the public for the winter, reopening Spring 2024.
Washroom closures:
- Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park - Washroom nearest to 17th Avenue and washroom near the Exploration Place will close on Tuesday, October 31.
- Duchess Park - Playground washroom will close on Tuesday, October 31.
- Carrie Jane Grey Park - Washroom will close on Tuesday, October 31.
Outhouse closures:
- Connaught Hill Park – Closed for the year on the evening of Monday, October 30, 2023, reopening Spring 2024.
- Rainbow Park – Closed for the year on the evening of Monday, October 30, 2023, reopening Spring 2024.
- Nechako Riverside Park – Closed once snow has fallen and stayed on the ground.
Drinking Fountains:
The following will be winterized (which is the act of removing all of the water from the water, drain, and sewer lines to prevent the lines from freezing and rupturing.)
- Masich Place Stadium – End of October
- Jumpstart/ Rotary Skate Park – already winterized
- Duchess Park Playground – Will be winterized this week.
- Duchess Park Dog Parks - Will be winterized this week.
- Ingledew Dog Park - Will be winterized this week.
Masich Place Stadium
The Masich track will be closed to public walking on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. It will still be open and staffed for booked events such as Football and Soccer. Masich Place Stadium will be winterized and closed for the season after the last booking scheduled for Saturday, November 18, 2023. The dates for Masich Place Stadium bookings are subject to snow and cold temperatures and may be closed at any time.
