FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Prince George, B.C. – The City of Prince George will recommence the 3rd Avenue watermain replacement work from August 8, 2023. Road closures will be in place between Vancouver Street and Victoria Street, and then for half a block between Victoria Street and Brunswick Street.

This work is part of the $2-million Watermain Replacement Program. The 60-year old asset replacement on 3rd Avenue was prioritized after the 2016 and 2019 watermain breaks. Last year, 3rd Avenue between Edmonton Street and Vancouver Street was completed, and this upcoming work is the next phase of the multi-year project.

The road closure is expected to be in place for two months. Impacted businesses have been notified of the work, and there will be no street parking available in this area during this time.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during construction. The City is asking people to exercise caution in and around the work zone and pay attention to signage and directions from the construction crew.

Scheduled full-day water outages are also expected during two Sundays, August 20 and 27.
