FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Prince George, B.C. – The Canfor Leisure Pool will close for regular maintenance and cleaning between August 17 and September 6. The pool will reopen on Monday, September 7 at 11:30 a.m.

Annual maintenance is an important best practice to help ensure aquatic facilities remain clean, safe, and well maintained for the community. As the Aquatic Centre is currently closed for renovations, the City has condensed the work schedule into three weeks to minimize disruptions. The pools will be drained, all areas of the facility will be deep cleaned, equipment will be inspected/repaired, and work will start on the HVAC improvement project.

“The City scheduled this work to take place during the end of summer, when there is a regular break in swimming lessons and local swim club use while having an abundance of outdoor activities to enjoy,” said civic facilities and events director, Andy Beesley.

“We know that reducing pool availability isn’t welcome news, but annual maintenance is important work that must be done. City staff have worked hard to reduce the length of the closure from four weeks to three, which is the shortest amount of time possible for crews to complete this work. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the pool on Labour Day.”
