FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Prince George, B.C. – The City of Prince George is excited to invite residents to CityFest – a vibrant, family-friendly event happening Wednesday, May 21 at Canada Games Plaza.
From 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. residents are invited to join Mayor and Council for an afternoon of music, food, and interactive opportunities to connect with the services that support and strengthen the city.
CityFest promises something for everyone:
- Food trucks to fuel the fun
- Face painting and hands-on experiences for kids, including the chance to see municipal vehicles up close including a fire truck, tractor and Zamboni
- Informational booths highlighting City services – from fire safety and bylaw education to parks, roads, planning, and aquatics
- Have your say on city services and ask questions to staff members
- Meet-and-greet opportunities with members of Council
- Giveaways and fun games including coveted Mr. PG swag
“CityFest is about celebrating the spirit of civic engagement and responsiveness of local government in Prince George – the people, services, and pride that make this community so special,” said Mayor Simon Yu. “Whether you want to learn more about how the City works or simply have fun with your family, CityFest is a great way to connect, share ideas, and enjoy an afternoon together.”
The event also coincides with Local Government Awareness Week (May 11–17) and Asset Management Awareness Day on May 14 – making it a perfect time to spotlight the important work done at the municipal level.
“We know our residents are eager to engage with our staff, and we’re looking forward to seeing many familiar and new faces at CityFest,” said City Manager Walter Babicz. “It’s a great opportunity to answer your questions and hear more about what matters most to our community.”
CityFest is a free, all-ages event with no registration required. Whether you’re new to Prince George or a lifelong resident, come out and enjoy a fun, interactive afternoon that celebrates civic life in our community.
