FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Prince George, B.C. – The City of Prince George has published its 2024 Annual Report. The report is available for public comment on the City's website and at City Hall until noon on June 23, 2025.

The Annual Report provides a comprehensive overview of the City’s initiatives accomplished in 2024, detailed audited financial statements, and activities planned for the coming year that align with the Council’s strategic priorities. For the past decade, the City of Prince George has based its planning on an integrated community sustainability plan known as myPG. The Annual Report is structured around the four myPG pillars:

  1. City Government and Infrastructure
  2. Economic Growth and Development
  3. Social Health and Well-Being
  4. Environmental Leadership and Climate Action

Notable accomplishments in 2024:

  • The City signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation and Regional District of Fraser-Fort George to reinforce a shared commitment to regional collaboration and truth and reconciliation on Indigenous Peoples Day.
  • The City achieved 77% of its year one housing target under the B.C. Housing Supply Act in just the first six months of the order taking effect on August 1, 2024, by completing a total of 210 net new housing units.
  • The City hosted a Public Safety Town Hall in May to engage residents and interested parties about safety, share updates on key initiatives, and listen to community concerns. Key concerns voiced by residents included housing, air quality, and transition plans for the court-protected encampment. In June, Council approved a four-phase approach to better manage the encampment and respond to resident feedback.
  • In December, the City got the keys to a new structural protection unit (SPU) thanks to Miracle Theatre. Prince George is better prepared for wildfire, thanks to the $180,000 donation which was made possible through ticket sales from Miracle Theatre's 2024 production. The SPU will remain in Prince George and is on standby for the community.

City Council will review the report at its regular meeting on June 23 at 6 p.m. Paper copies are available for viewing at the Service Centre on the first floor of City Hall and at the Legislative Services Division on the fifth floor during regular business hours. Written submissions regarding the 2024 Annual Report should be forwarded to the Corporate Officer by noon on June 23 to be included in the Council’s agenda package. Get more information about how to participate on the City website.
