Proposed Resolution to Prioritize Municipal Input in Future RCMP Contract Policing Decisions

 

Lower Patricia Encampment: Enhanced Security Options and Supporting the Province’s New “Homes for People” Action Plan to Close Encampments

  • Council postponed the final reading of the amended Parks and Open Space bylaw for a future meeting.
  • Council endorsed the Province’s “Homes for People” plan by offering Prince George as a pilot community.
  • Decisions on proposed security enhancements (including private security options) for the Lower Patricia area were also postponed for another meeting. Council directed staff to provide information on further enhanced security and safety options.
  • Council authorized constructing No-Post concrete barriers along the Lower Patricia accessway to ensure emergency vehicles access.

 

Engage Sport North Partnership Proposal

  • Council approved Engage Sport North’s request for local registered, targeted athletes to be given free access to the Prince George Aquatic Centre during operational hours.
  • Free access is for individual drop-in use and are not a replacement for or add-on to pool rental agreements.
  • There are currently 62 targeted athletes (40 registered with Engage Sport).
  • The proposal adheres to the City’s Social Health and Well-Being Priorities to maximize quality of life for all residents and Economic Diversity and Growth Priorities by marketing Prince George as a place to invest, live, and visit.
