The July 11, 2022 Council meeting began with an update from the Prince George BC Summer Games chairs. Only a few days away, the July 21-24 Games will be an exciting time in PG. With thousands of visitors, business will be booming and there will be dozens of free events to attend in almost every venue in PG. The tag line for the Games is “Spirit Lives Here” and that will be seen in the amazing support at all the events from our citizens and with the number of volunteers who make this Games spectacular. Those wanting to sign up to volunteer a few hours of their time to show their spirit can do so here https://www.bcgames.org/Volunteer

  • Communications Policy – Council passed a Communications Policy that establishes guiding principles for all forms of City communications and incorporates the International Association of Public Participation’s Core Values for public engagement.
  • Brand Project – The City is embarking on a brand project to define the city’s personality, promise and look. This is not a logo project but an opportunity to learn from the citizens of Prince George what they love the most about our community and what they want to be known for.
  • Safe Streets Bylaw - Council gave the first three readings to an amendment to the Safe Streets Bylaw that will allow City staff to collect and store (for 30 days) items that are left on city streets and sidewalks. If the items are not claimed within 30 days they can be disposed of or sold at auction. Final reading and adoption will be on the agenda for consideration on July 25, 2022.
  • Colosseum Naming - The Junior “A” Prince George Spruce Kings have asked the City to explore a sponsorship that would include naming rights to the Colosseum. Council approved this proposal, and an Expression of Interest will be posted to the City’s website in the coming weeks.
