Lheidli T’enneh First Nation – Plaque Presentation
- Chief Dolleen Logan and the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation Council presented City Council with a territorial acknowledgement plaque. The plaque represents another milestone step in Prince George’s continuing efforts to do justice to truth and reconciliation.
- Council accepted the plaque, which will be displayed in a position of prominence in City Hall.
- Council and Council Committees meetings will open with a land acknowledgement statement.
- City Administration will prepare an administrative procedure to provide staff with guidelines on how to use the land acknowledgement statement.
2023 Permissive Tax Exemptions
- Council approved permissive tax exemptions for 2023 for organizations listed in Appendix A of the September 12, 2022 “2023 Permissive Tax Exemptions” report as recommended by the Chair of the Standing Committee on Finance and Audit.
- Council gave the first of three readings to the “City of Prince George Permissive Tax Exemption Bylaw No. 9075, 2019, Amended Bylaw 9343, 2022”.
1st Avenue Integrated Health and Housing Project Update
- Council received a staff report from the City Manager titled, “1st Avenue Integrated Health and Housing Update”.
- In summary:
- The three-stage housing project (a collaboration between BC Housing, the City of Prince George, and Northern Health) completed its initial phase in June 2022 when the first 50 safe and secure homes opened.
- BC Housing advised in late August 2022 approval of $1.5 million in project development funds to advance the second stage of the housing project, which consists of another 50 units of supported housing and a health centre. The funding is to hire an architectural firm to design the centre and to procure a construction manager.
- The City of Prince George will continue to advocate for the third and final project stage.
Proposed Naming Rights for Prince George Coliseum
- Council approved and authorized the City Manager to enter into a Naming Rights Agreement with Kopar Administration Ltd. (Kopar) for the naming rights of the Prince George Coliseum.
- When signed, the City will receive an annual revenue of $15,000 for four years (totalling $60,000).
