FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Prince George BC -  At approximately 2:00 p.m. on January 16, Prince George Fire Rescue crews from four halls responded to a commercial structure fire on the 1100 block of 4th Avenue.

First arriving crews found heavy smoke coming from a single-story commercial building, the former City Second Hand store, on the corner of 4th Avenue and Dominion Street. 

Crews initiated an offensive attack to control the fire and protect exposures.

Crews were on scene for several hours extinguishing the flames, and then over night and into this morning crews remain on scene attending to fire hot spots.

There is minor water and smoke damage to the Croft Hotel.

There were no injuries to either firefighters or the public.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage figures are unknown at this stage.
