FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Prince George, B.C. – Residents are invited to help shape the City of Prince George’s 2026 budget by participating in the annual budget survey now until October 31.

The survey gives participants personalized information about how their tax dollars are distributed to various City services such as roads and sidewalks, infrastructure management, and protective services based on their current property assessment value.  Participants can then adjust funding levels for each service to understand how that would impact their tax bill and prioritize the services that are most important to them.

“We encourage everyone to participate in the budget engagement this fall, whether that’s taking an online survey or dropping by an in-person event,” said Mayor Simon Yu, “this is an important opportunity for Council to understand what residents would like to see in our community and the capital budget next year.”

Council will review the results of the 2026 budget engagement later this year and consider resident feedback when making decisions in January. Residents who complete the budget survey can enter the optional prize draw for a $100 gift card to the local business of their choice.

In 2025, the annual budget survey had 930 responses, and the five check-up surveys had 941 responses.

In-person events coming this month

Residents who prefer to engage face-to-face will have three opportunities to chat with staff, ask questions, and learn more about the budget process. Three events are planned in October:

  • October 7, 4 to 7 p.m., Prince George Public Library Bob Harkins branch

    • Join City staff for a walk and talk during CN Centre indoor walking to learn about the budget process and how you can get involved.
