Prince George, B.C. - The City of Prince George is joining forces with the BC SPCA to encourage pet owners to license their dogs on September 10, 2022. Bylaw officers and SPCA staff will be at Ginter’s Meadow from 10am until 2pm to sell discounted dog licences, give away swag and prizes, and provide information on adoptions, outreach, fostering, and more.
The special, one day deal will allow pet owners to license their spayed/neutered dogs for $22 and $34 for unspayed/unneutered dogs (the regular cost is $36 for spayed/neutered dogs and $81 for unspayed/unneutered dogs). In addition, any unpaid licensing fees from previous years will be waived at the time of purchase.
“A dog licence is a pet's best bet for a safe return if they escape or become lost,” says Ted Norton, bylaw services supervisor at the City of Prince George. “Buying a licence ensures the pet and owner’s information are entered into the City's licensing system, which allows us to return the dog home when the owner is available instead of bringing it to the SPCA to be claimed,” he continued.
SPCA staff will also have treats for humans by donation and available adoptable dogs on site.
