FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Prince George BC – At approximately 8 a.m. on May 11, 2024, the City of Prince George activated the Emergency Social Service Centre (ESS) to support 2,500 to 3,000 evacuees from Fort Nelson.
The ESS is located in trailers on the Prince George Exhibition Grounds at 41 Keller Street.
Hours:
- Saturday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
It will remain activated daily while it is needed to support evacuees. Any changes in the hours will be communicated through the City’s website and social media channels.
Evacuees can also register for support services and get information by calling 778-675-3735.
During large events the Provincial ESS information centre may be available. Evacuees, responders and suppliers can call 1-800-585-9559.
An ESS provides short-term basic support to people impacted by disasters. The program is financed by the provincial government and administered by Indigenous communities and local governments. Resources provided can include information, hotel vouchers, and meal vouchers for those who have been evacuated.
