Prince George, B.C. – The City of Prince George is preparing for work at Rainbow Park that will make it easier for park users to “go” year-round.
A new insulated building is designed for year-round use and includes three accessible flushable washrooms and mechanical room. Fresno Construction Ltd. was awarded the construction contract and has been working on site preparation this month for sewer service connections and building installation. The new building is centrally located within the park and will be available alongside the existing outhouses.
“Rainbow Park is used frequently throughout the year, from sledding in the winter, to disc golf in the warmer months, and countless weddings and celebrations booked at the gazebo,” said project manager Michael Le Morvan, “this project enhances visitor comfort, improves accessibility and public health standards, and supports the increasing demand for winter amenities and four-season recreation in Prince George.”
The project was approved by Council during 2026 budget deliberations, at a total cost of $700,000 from the Development Cost Charges Parkland Fund and the Northern Capital and Planning Reserve. Construction is expected to be completed by early summer 2027.
