FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Prince George, B.C. – Residents will notice lots of action on City streets this Sunday, February 8, for the 39th annual Prince George Iceman race.

Motorists are urged to drive carefully around the race route and follow directions from volunteers between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. The route has changed this year due to the Aquatic Centre closure, instead, runners will make their way from the Ice Oval to the Canfor Leisure Pool.

Notable traffic impacts include:

  • One southbound lane and the bike lane closed on Foothills Boulevard between Otway Road and 18th Avenue.
  • All sidewalks along the route closed for racers.
  • All traffic signals along the route placed in four-way flash.

Detailed maps can be found on the Iceman website. Transit delays are possible. Check the BC Transit alerts page for up-to-date route information.

The main pool and teach pool at the Canfor Leisure Pool will be closed from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to make way for the swimming portion of the race. All other pool amenities will remain open including the leisure pool, waterslide, lazy river, steam room and sauna.
