FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Prince George, B.C. - New signage has been unveiled at the former Duchess Park Dog Park, officially renaming the space Travers Memorial Dog Park in honour of the late Kathi Travers. Kathi Travers was a long time Prince George resident, dedicated volunteer, and passionate supporter of the SPCA.

The park's renaming recognizes Travers' lasting contributions to the community and her commitment to animal welfare. Honouring individuals and organizations for their outstanding achievements, dedicated service, and significant contributions helps preserve Prince George's history while reflecting and celebrating the values that strengthen our community.

Named after respected local educator Duchess Mary Park, Duchess Park has long been a recognized community landmark. The dog park's new name, Travers Memorial Dog Park, honours Kathi Travers’ legacy while maintaining the Duchess Park name for the broader park complex in which it is located.

This is one of seven off-leash dog parks within the City. The full list available here.
