Active Transportation Plan 2026-2046

The Active Transportation Plan 2026-2046 provides the City of Prince George with long-term direction for enhancing and encouraging more trips made by walking, rolling, cycling, and other types of human-powered transportation and micromobility devices. This new ATP is intended to be a review and update of the existing Active Transportation Plan 2011. The 2026 ATP builds on current best practices and guidance in active transportation planning and design and community input. The ATP includes:

  • A list of proposed policies, programs, and initiatives focused on improving the active transportation network and supporting users.
  • A long-term active transportation network of infrastructure projects that builds on the City’s existing network of sidewalks, multi-use pathways, and cycling facilities, filling gaps and creating safe and
continuous routes for people walking, rolling, and cycling.
  • An implementation plan for active transportation programs and infrastructure, ensuring the City is well-positioned to apply for funding opportunities to support the implementation of the ATP.

The ATP is intended to inform decision-making and guide municipal transportation investments over the next twenty years, while helping the City access funding programs and cost-share opportunities to expand and enhance active transportation throughout the community.
