FireSmart Rebate Program Application

Application Requirements and Process

Step 1: Complete the FireSmart Rebate form below.

Step 2: Wait to be contacted by a City of Prince George Wildfire Mitigation Specialist (WMS) for approval and to schedule a Wildfire Mitigation Assessment. The initial assessment must be completed by the WMS before starting any proposed projects.

Step 3: Complete the FireSmart treatment as recommended through your assessment. FireSmart work must be completed within 60 days of the initial assessment. Extensions may be granted by a WMS. Refer to the FireSmart Begins at Home and FireSmart Guide to Landscaping for more information.

Step 4: Book a follow up for assessment approval from your WMS.

Step 5: Once all projects are approved as complete by the WMS, the following documents will be processed:

FireSmart Rebate application form
Wildfire Mitigation Assessment report (completed by the WMS)
Re-assessment (after project completion)
Receipts of incurred expenses if applicable

Step 6: When your application has been processed, cheques will be mailed within 3 to 4 weeks.

I acknowledge and agree that, prior to the commencement of any work and for any work to be considered eligible for rebate consideration, my property must be assessed by a Wildfire Mitigation Specialist (WMS). Such assessment shall include completion of a Wildfire Mitigation Program Assessment and a FireSmart Work Hours Estimate Form.

I acknowledge and agree that any rebate awarded shall not exceed fifty percent (50%) of the total eligible costs as outlined in the FireSmart Work Hours Estimate Form, to a maximum rebate amount of seven hundred and fifty dollars ($750.00) per property.

I acknowledge and agree that project approval, authorization, and prioritization shall be determined at the sole discretion of the WMS, based on FireSmart best practices and program criteria.

I acknowledge and agree that rebate funding is limited, and that submission or acceptance of this application does not constitute approval of, nor guarantee eligibility for, a rebate.

I acknowledge and agree that, upon written approval, I shall complete the authorized work and submit all required documentation within sixty (60) days of receipt of the FireSmart Work Hours Estimate Form to be eligible for rebate payment. Extensions may be granted at the sole discretion of WMS, subject to demonstrated project progress. The 2026 Rebate Program shall conclude on Oct 31st , 2026, and no rebates shall be issued after this date.
