Apply for a Position on the Prince George Heritage Commission

The Prince George Heritage Commission is responsible for undertaking heritage education and awareness activities and reviewing and reporting to City Council on matters of heritage significance within the City.

The Commission meets quarterly in March, June, September and December, on the second Thursday of those months from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Requirements to Apply

Applicants must:
  • be residents or electors of the City of Prince George;
  • be available to attend the quarterly meetings; and
  • be willing to participate actively in projects the Heritage Commission undertakes throughout the year such as attending heritage events and workshops, participating in research activities, and attending informal working group meetings.

Applicant Information

Per section 3.2 of the Committees, Commissions, and Boards Procedures Manual, and section 2.5 of the "Heritage Commission Bylaw No. 8133, 2008", to qualify for appointment to the Commission, applicants must be eligible electors of the City of Prince George.
Per the definition of "members of the public" in the Council Procedures Bylaw No. 8388, 2011, this does not include a member of Council or an officer or employee of the City. City employees are not eligible to apply for membership on a Council Committee.

The Heritage Commission depends on active participation of its members.  Applicants for the Heritage Commission should note that regular attendance at quarterly meetings is expected in addition to their willingness to participate in activities undertaken by the Commission throughout the year.
