Request a Letter of Support for a Grant Application

From time to time the City of Prince George receives requests from organizations and individuals seeking a letter of support for their endeavours in connection with their application for grant funding from another level of government or a third-party organization. These requests are considered against the process established in the Council-approved "Requests for Letters of Support for Grants" policy.

Requests that do not meet in the criteria established in the policy will be denied.  In those instances, the requestor may submit their request for considered by Council at a regular Council meeting.

Policy Criteria

Is the request for a letter of support from a non-profit organization or a registered charity?
Is the request for a letter of support for a grant application from another level of government or third-party?
Does the request involve a financial contribution or in-kind contribution from the City of Prince George (i.e.: facility space, staff time, resources, etc.)?

As you have indicated that the request for a letter of support for a grant application cannot be processed in accordance with the policy, please submit your request for a letter of support through formal communication channels.  

The deadline to receive formal correspondence for inclusion on a Council meeting is 12:00 p.m. on the Monday immediately preceding the intended Council meeting date.

Supporting Documents

All requests must be accompanied by a formal letter address to Mayor and Council including the following details:

  • information about the grant application including grant name, funding organization, and value being requested;
  • information about the project or work that the grant would be supporting;
  • a statement confirming that the requesting organization is a non-profit organization or registered charity; and
  • a statement detailing how the initiative would be beneficial to the community.

The City also welcomes provision of a draft letter of support for consideration and/or incorporation into the City's letter.
