Nominations will be received by the Chief Election Officer for the City of Prince George offices of: One (1) Mayor and Eight (8) Councillors.

  • Nomination Period Opens: 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2026
  • Nomination Period Closes: 4:00 p.m., Friday, September 11, 2026
How to Obtain a Nomination Package

Nomination packages will be available at the 5th Floor, City Hall (1100 Patricia Blvd) during regular business hours, and on the City of Prince George website at www.princegeorge.ca/election, beginning at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2026 until the nomination period closes.

How to Submit a Nomination

Nomination packages can be delivered via mail or hand delivery, email, or fax.

Nominations may be delivered in-person to the Chief Election Officer during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding statutory holidays). City Hall will be closed on Monday, September 7.

Qualifications for Office

A person is qualified to be nominated, elected, and to hold office as a member of local government if they meet the following criteria:

  • Canadian citizen;
  • 18 years of age or older on general voting day October 17, 2026;
  • resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before filing nomination documents;
  • not be disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election in British Columbia or from being nominated for, being elected to, or holding the office, or be otherwise disqualified by law.
Campaign Period Expense Limits

In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2026 General Local Election, the following expense limits for candidates during the campaign period apply:

  • Mayor:        $66,572.07
  • Councillor:    $33,723.19
Third-Party Advertising Expense Limits

In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2026 General Local Election, the following two types of expense limits for third-party advertising apply:

Directed Advertising Expense Limits

The directed advertising expense limits specific to the Prince George election area are as follows:

•    Mayor and Councillor: $3,328.60

Cumulative Advertising Expense Limit

The cumulative advertising expense limit is $184,856.70 and applies to directed and issued advertising conducted by a third-party sponsor in all election areas.
