Budget deliberations start January 24, 2022

Prince George, BC - Citizens wishing to express their opinion about the City of Prince George’s financial priorities are invited to do so in advance of Council’s budget deliberations next week. Council will deliberate the 2022 operating and capital budget at Council meetings on Monday, January 24, at 3:30pm and Wednesday January 26 at 3:30pm. Members of the public may attend the meetings in person (with limited seating capacity due to Covid-19 public health restrictions), or watch the meeting on the City’s livestream webcast. There will be select opportunities to phone in with comments or questions.

The public can also provide written or verbal input regarding the proposed 2022 budget via email, hand-delivered letter, telephone, or in-person comments at the budget council meeting. Written submissions can be emailed to cityclerk@princegeorge.ca or addressed to the corporate officer and dropped off at the Service Centre on the first floor of City Hall before 12:00pm, January 24.

“Members of the public wishing to address Council regarding the budget will have two opportunities to do so either in-person or by telephone at 3:30pm and again at 6:00pm during the Monday, January 24 budget meeting,” said manager of Legislative Services, Maureen Connelly, the City’s corporate officer. “Residents must be connected to the telephone line or available in Council Chambers at these times. While not required, residents are encouraged to pre-register on the City website if they wish to address Council via telephone.”

The pre-registration page includes additional information on how to participate, including the dial-in phone number. The budget meeting agenda including a schedule of events and the proposed budget is now available on the City’s website.
