FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Prince George, B.C. - The City of Prince George will be closing a lane on 5th Avenue for three days this week (July 19, 20 and 21) for watermain utility work to be carried out.

There will be alternating single-lane traffic on a section of 5th Ave between Ospika Boulevard and Highway 97 while the work is undertaken. Traffic delays are expected, and motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes such as Nicholson Street or Moffat Street.

The work involves replacing the deteriorating water valves on 5th Avenue, as part of the Stuart Drive capital watermain project. The new watermain will be bigger, in order to improve fire protection on Kinsmen Pace to satisfy the increasing demands in the area.

The City advises citizens to exercise caution around the work zone and pay attention to signage and directions from the traffic control personnel. The City will coordinate with emergency services to ensure access for emergency vehicles.
