Prince George firefighters support fire suppression in Williams Lake

Prince George, B.C. On July 21, the Provincial Structure Protection Coordinator requested assistance from Prince George Fire Rescue on the River Valley wildfire near Williams Lake.

Two back-up fire engines and six firefighters were deployed that evening and immediately started fire suppression support upon arrival at 2:30 a.m.

“We are happy to provide support to our neighbours across the region when we are able,” said Fire Chief Cliff Warner. “This deployment did not impact day-to-day operations for the City of Prince George.”

One truck and four crew members returned last night, and the remaining crew will stay for a few more days. The River Valley wildfire near Williams Lake is now marked as ‘under control’ by the BC Wildfire Service. For the most up-to-date fire information, visit the BC Wildfire website.
