FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Prince George, B.C. – On July 21, the Provincial Structure Protection Coordinator requested assistance from Prince George Fire Rescue on the River Valley wildfire near Williams Lake.
Two back-up fire engines and six firefighters were deployed that evening and immediately started fire suppression support upon arrival at 2:30 a.m.
“We are happy to provide support to our neighbours across the region when we are able,” said Fire Chief Cliff Warner. “This deployment did not impact day-to-day operations for the City of Prince George.”
One truck and four crew members returned last night, and the remaining crew will stay for a few more days. The River Valley wildfire near Williams Lake is now marked as ‘under control’ by the BC Wildfire Service. For the most up-to-date fire information, visit the BC Wildfire website.
