FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Prince George, BC – The City of Prince George invites residents to provide final feedback on the draft Official Community Plan (OCP), a critical document outlining a long-term vision and comprehensive framework for development, land use, and community growth through to 2050.
This is an essential opportunity for community members to help shape the future of Prince George, ensuring the OCP reflects the community's priorities and goals for sustainable development.
The OCP is the product of an extensive 18-month planning process, including thorough research, technical analysis, and input from residents, landowners, business owners, and community organizations across the city. The OCP Review was publicly launched on September 18, 2023. On July 8, 2024, Council received an update on community feedback so far, future engagement opportunities and next steps.
In this final phase launching this week, the City will release the draft OCP for public review, refine it based on public input, and prepare it for council consideration in early 2025. Council's review of the final OCP will be a public process, offering further opportunities for residents to share their thoughts directly with council members.
Residents are encouraged to read the draft OCP in its entirety before providing feedback, as it presents a comprehensive framework that integrates all policies and goals cohesively.
The feedback will be gathered utilizing a final survey that is available online now until November 22.
"From shaping our neighborhoods to preserving our natural spaces, the OCP sets the stage for a balanced future," said Kali Holahan, Supervisor of Land Use Planning. "This is the final opportunity for residents to make their voices heard, ensuring that the policies in our OCP reflect the community’s values and aspirations."
