FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Prince George, B.C. -  At approximately 2:20 a.m. on April 29, Prince George Fire Rescue crews from three halls responded to a commercial structure fire in the 2200 block of the Hart Highway, the site of the Northwood Plaza.

Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke coming from the roof.

Fire crews initiated an aggressive interior attack to confine the fire, however, were forced into a defensive posture as heavy flames within the roof made conditions extremely dangerous. Despite this several businesses located in the structure were spared from heavy fire damage.

There were no injuries to either firefighters or the public.

Damage is estimated at $1,000,000, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
