Prince George, B.C. – The year-end building permit totals are in and 2025 proved to be another record-breaking year for the City of Prince George. 431 permits were issued with a total value of more than $314 million.
According to the report, which will be presented to Council at the February 2 meeting, 78 building permits were issued for commercial, industrial, and institutional developments, 76 for multi-family developments, and 277 for single-family dwellings in 2025. Those developments equate to 656 housing units.
“The City has set a record nearly every year since 2018 when it comes to the value of building permits issued. We are extremely pleased to see ongoing development in Prince George and year-over-year growth,” said planning and development director, Deanna Wasnik, “It’s clear that developers are continuing to see the value of doing business in Prince George, and many of these investments are critical to growing our local economy.”
New institutional permits (more than $108 million), new multi-family development (nearly $66 million), and new single-family dwellings (more than $47 million) were the top permit categories 2025. Last year’s total is up from 409 permits issued in 2024 with a total value of more than $267 million.
In August 2025, Prince George accomplished 104% of its year one provincial housing target order goal, which began on August 1, 2024. The next update for year two will be provided this summer.
